The Welcome Back Fund is a follow up fund to the earlier Reopening Safely Fund and comes from the same ERDF fund. The key objective of this Fund is to get people back into towns following the Covid lockdowns and closure of town centres and the focus is on encouraging and supporting events and activities.
Bodmin Chamber is working in partnership with Bodmin Town Council on submission of a bid to the Welcome Back Fund for Bodmin. Bodmin Chamber is working closely with BTC, Into Bodmin and other organisations in Bodmin to ensure that we submit a bid that brings maximum benefit to the town. This is a dynamic plan that we expect to evolve as we consult with people and do more research.
We have been working on this since June 2021 and submitted a bid for gazebos, tables and chairs and other equipment to enable us to have a regular market on the Folly Square and other events. Our bid was successful and Bodmin has been awarded £25,000 for this equipment and we have also been awarded a programme of cultural events and activities worth £17,500 that will take place in the town centre over the next four months. We are currently awaiting details of those events.
We hope to have some more news to share very soon.
